19 March 2020 - Wonky Veg

My foodbank project is unravelling like a Beano jumper. I was lucky enough to find a bay in the studio at Huddersfield and set up this image. I had braved Morrison’s Supermarket, Selby and managed to buy a selection of their Wonky Veg. I also stole a suitable cardboard carton to photograph the food in. This is a fair representation of some of the fruit and vegetables to be found in food banks.

I then drove to Huddersfield and managed to find an empty studio, they’re studios are beautifully equipped and a joy to use. Having spent some time playing with the lights and ensuring that the composition was OK but not super slick, I produced this image. It must have been fun to watch, I was carefully balancing a silver reflector on one side of the picture and holding a huge, and ungainly, scrim frame on the other (this was to control the highlight from the red apple). Sadly, this was to be last trip to the studios, possibly ever.
